Another Update
For some reason this makes me happy
Hello lovely Time and Money supporters and readers.
You may not know this, but you really started something. As I was releasing the first draft of this book last year, and more and more people started to read it, I realised I wanted to re-write it, get it printed and sell copies online.
I had a very niche plan, maybe sell 50 or 60 books. It was a hobby/side hustle/experiment.
Some of you may know about a book I wrote in 2022-23, The Ghost Camera. The publication was a victim of the collapse of Unbound, the publishers I had been working with for over a decade. Around 160 people had supported the book on Unbound, they invested in the book and got nothing.
I wrote the book and got nothing. It was all very unpleasant.
Inspired by my desire to self publish Time and Money, I decided to print 100 copies of The Ghost Camera and sent them to everyone I had records of who had supported the book on Unbound.
This number grew to about 160 books as more supporters emerged from around the world. These were people who were not on the list I snaffled from the empty Unbound offices just before it totally dissapeared.
So I ordered another 100 books, and after I had sent out the rest, there were a few copies left over.
So fool that I am, I thought I may as well start up a little online bookshop to sell the remainders.
And then I thought, why don‘t I re-publish the most popular books I have written in the past 30 years.
The Man in the Rubber Mask, The Man on Platform 5, News from Gardenia as well as The Ghost Camera.
So I did.
And I’ve just finished posting a big batch of the initial orders. I’ve now sent hundreds of books all over the world, I truly never expected any of this to happen.
And the mystery is, somehow I still haven’t finished editing Time and Money, the book that inspired the whole thing.
So I apologise for that, and I will get to it as soon as I can, other work commitments permitting. But honestly, it will be soon. I’ve nearly finished and I think the story has improved a great deal.
So I hope, one day, you might consider buying a copy, in the meantime, you are very welcome to browse my Modern Bookshop.

Can't wait to see the transformation! Substack just renewed my subscriptions to both this project and your main Rants stack, so an update is welcome. Looking forward to seeing you in Harrogate, and hopefully having three new books to read as an early birthday pressie!
